Punch Cards
Most cities have hundreds of great restaurants.
Most people eat at the same five.
There is a simple product that fixes this for everyone:
A local restaurant punch card.
Customers discover new places.
Restaurants get new customers.
You sell a small piece of cardboard.
That’s the entire business.
And it already works.
For example, the KC Daily Dine Card sells a physical card that gives a one-time 20% discount at 10–12 restaurants for $25.

Customers show the card, the restaurant punches it, and the discount is applied.
Simple.
And according to the creator, the card generates about $2,500/month in revenue.
So the question becomes:
Could you copy this idea in your city?
Yes. Very easily.

The MVP
Find 10–12 restaurants in your city.
Look for:
• mid-tier places
• not huge chains
• places that want exposure
Pitch them this:
“I'm launching a local dining passport featuring 12 restaurants. Each restaurant offers a one-time 20% discount. I’ll promote it to locals and bring new customers.”
Design a simple card.
You can use:
• Canva
• VistaPrint
• Moo
Include:
• restaurant logos
• punch boxes
• expiration date
Print 100 cards.
Cost: roughly $30
Sell them.
Price: $25
Sell through:
• Instagram
• newsletter
• local Facebook groups
• farmers markets
That’s it.
How this scales to $10k/mo
Once the punch card works, getting to $10k/month is mostly about selling more cards and adding more products. The simplest path is volume. At $25 per card, selling 400 cards per month = $10,000 in revenue. That becomes realistic once restaurants promote it in store, local newsletters mention it, and customers start sharing it as a great local deal.
You can also stack additional revenue streams so you do not rely only on card sales.
• Sell more cards: 400 cards × $25 = $10,000/month
• Charge restaurants to join: 12 restaurants × $250 placement fee = $3,000
• Launch niche cards: coffee passport, dessert card, date night card
• Bundle for gifts: “3 cards for $60” during holidays
• Sponsored placements: restaurants pay to be featured or listed first
Example path:
• Dining card: 200 sold = $5,000
• Coffee passport: 120 sold = $3,000
• Dessert card: 80 sold = $2,000
Total = $10,000/month from the same simple system.
