Featured: 🧼 A Cleaning Agency Doing $20k/mo (without cleaning)

Welcome to Ghost Business šŸ‘» Where we turn $1 into thousands building these weird but simple side hustles

Featured: Cleaning Agency

Fitted sheets… This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Feature a side hustle or business with a breakdown with some of their actual numbers.

I sat down with the MAN, Stetson Stallworth. We met on Twitter and he broke down his Nevada cleaning agency business with fantastic details. Check him out on Twitter, @Stetson11QB. Let’s dive in šŸ‘‡

So how does this cleaning agency work?

  • Stetson finds customers: property managers, AirBnB owners, etc

  • He gets a flat fee for the job

  • Hires cleaners hourly to clean

  • Keeps the difference

This intrigued me because he doesn’t have to do any of the cleaning! He finds the customers, hires the cleaners, manages any customer service. BEAUTIFUL

How did this all get started?

  • graduated during covid, no jobs available. The only gig he could get was scooping horse poop (psst, side note, if you don’t mind scooping šŸ’©, check out this $500/day poop scooping biz)

  • Heard Nick Huber (@sweatystartup) and learned he wanted to do service business

  • Goals: earn enough money for downpayment, learn how to manage people

So how much is this bringing in?

Gross revenue is about ~$20k per month with about $4k pure profit šŸ’Ŗ

After chatting with Stetson, this can turn into a $50k-$100k per mo business within 2-3 years. He has an amazing business model in a high demand field, he’s ready to clean house šŸ˜‰

What would I to get to 1M customers and be the ā€œUberā€ of cleaning, let’s dive in šŸ‘‡

The MVP (Getting your first customer)

KYC, Know Your Cleaner… Do you know how much cleaning supplies cost? Average rate per home/size/room? Hourly cleaning rate?

If you don’t, you’re going to want to learn that right now.

This is helpful for a few reasons:

  • You can give quick quotes (faster replies get you more business)

  • Learn your startup costs

  • Figure out how much profit you can take home

Start posting ā€œfree quotesā€ for AirBnb/VRBO, Property managers, etc in Facebook groups in your area (people love free)

Once you land an interested customer, contact some highly respected cleaners saying you have inbound business and willing to hire them hourly to add them to your cleaning rotation.

Offer a nice hourly fee ~$20 to $30/hour

Congrats, you just got your first customer šŸŽ‰

Getting Your Next 100 Customers

Niche please… Now you have a few customers under your belt, now what? Focus on the customers that have the highest ROI (return on investment)

Is it property managers? AirBnb owners? Folks that just want regular weekly cleanings?

Figure that out then triple down on that customer. Where do these customers all congregate? Do they have facebook groups? Do they do meetups? What keywords do they use to search?

FIND THEIR HOUSE AND ENTER WITHOUT KNOCKING (okay that’s creepy and extreme, please don’t do that) but you get the gist.

Let’s say it’s property managers.

I would:

  • Create a website like cleaningforpropertymanagers.com

  • join all of my local property manager facebook groups

  • go door to door and give them some info on you and your business

  • legally change your name to Prop Man (worth a shot šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø)

The End Goal

Clean for All… So you made riches through your niches, nice. But how will this thing make millions?

Have several ā€œbrandsā€ you do your business through, example:

Tailor each business, pricing, wording, key words, communication, branding to this specific audience. But it’s really all just you in the background.

Now, you hire cleaners working full time for you and your margins get even better (and your operating costs go up 😢)

Next we gotta teach. Offer up courses on ā€œhow to grow your cleaning business without picking up a mopā€.

You’re a cleaning guru now. Your children go by Clorox, Dyson, and Lysol.

Viability:

1 [building spaceships] šŸš€ to 5 [easy peasy] 😊

Sudz… This side hustle can be started with VERY little to no money. It mostly comes down to quick and effective communication. Can you reply to customers quickly? Can you solve cleaner issues?

P.S. There’s also a massive audience if you record yourself cleaning (with folks consent). #cleaning has 64.7B views on TikTok šŸ¤Æ

(As usual each business will have it’s own setbacks, and it’s all about the execution and consistency rather than just having the idea šŸ˜‰)

It’s a great day to be great!

Love, Mike šŸ‘‹
