Ghost Business - How To Flip A Pool
you probably won't get wet

Welcome to Ghost Business - where mediocre business ideas go to launch or die

Flipping Pools
Make sure you stretch before this one. We’re gunna flip a pool (contract). But first, what the hell is a pool contract?
I learned about this from talking to my pool guy (gotta love a great pool guy). I talked him into starting his own business since it would essentially be the same work as doing it for someone else but he gets to keep all the monies.
So he did it. And now he’s making 4x what he was making before, DOING THE SAME DAMN THING 🤯.

Anyways we were talking about scaling his business and getting more clients. Turns out more clients isn’t the issue… It’s NEVER the issue. Finding good workers is the bottleneck. So I asked him what he does if he doesn’t have employees to service the pools he has, he casually mentions you can sell the contracts.
TELL ME EVERYTHING
Apparently these guys trade contracts like their Pokemon cards in 1999. The going rate is 6x to 10x the monthly rate. For example: we pay $100/mo for our pool service, which would sell for ~$700.
The wheels never stopped turning 🔥 🛞
What would this look like?
Marketplace DUH. But it has 2 sides to it.
The obvious: setting up a marketplace for cleaners/pool businesses to buy and sell pool contracts. All they would need is the monthly fee, sale price and zip code to display. Once a purchase is made, the details are made available (address, owners contact info, payment type, etc)
Create a funnel for you to CAPTURE leads and land contracts yourself! You wouldn’t actually be cleaning the pools (told ya you wouldn’t get wet 😉 ) but you could add them to the marketplace and make easy sales selling the contracts.
What DALL-E Thinks We Meant
How Could You Execute?
I would start small, create a landing page in your area to generate pool cleaning leads. Once you have a good amount generated, start hitting up the big pool cleaning companies in the area to sell these leads to.
Tell these guys, “I have way more of people trying to sell their contracts, are you interested?” Yes, they are always interested. Collect their contact info.
Send that same email to EVERY POOL GUY in the state and collect their info. Then set up a marketplace and put all of your leads on there. Email everyone that was interested, add an option for them to add their contracts.
Take a lil percentage off the top and you’ll be sippin Mai Tai’s on the beach by next week
Viability:
1 [building spaceships] 🚀 to 5 [easy peasy] 😊

This business is a 3 ghost viability. Definitely do-able without any huge upfront costs, the toughest part would be setting up the marketplace. You could generate a ton of revenue by landing contracts and selling them within a month and use that to have someone build you a marketplace!
