How To Make $1k/week At The Beach 🏖️

If you’re new here, we turn $1 into thousands building these weird but simple side hustles. Welcome to Ghost Business 👻 Your (mostly) weekly email

TLDR;

  • Luxury beach/park rental

  • $500 set up cost

  • $1,000 (potential) weekly revenue

  • Almost no downside

My good friend Alex recently went to Florida and won a raffle to use The Cabana Club at local beach he was visiting. He immediately sent me the URL after the experience because it’s a side hustle that anyone here can run (if you live in a touristy spot with beaches or parks)

The Cabana club is essentially a luxury rental company for all your beach needs (they’ll set it up for you too) - chairs, towels, coolers, etc.

So today let’s break down:

  • how we can build a cabana club rental business

  • estimate how much it would cost

  • how much we could make and some tricks to really make this huuuge this summer

First lets check out their pricing to get a baseline on what things cost:

  • Single Cabana - $195

    • 2 chairs & towels | 1 mini table | 1 beach blanket | 1 Yeti with ice & 2 waters | 2 cups | Bluetooth Speaker | Phone Charger | Sunscreen | Mini Trash Bin | Mini Locker

  • Double - $345

    • = single + extra chairs, towels, blankets and cups

  • Triple - $450

    • = double + extra extra extra. you get it.

Add ons:

  • Bean bag chair - $50

  • Extra chair - $30

  • Extra hour - $50

  • Floaties - $25 to $40

  • Games: $30

So anywhere between $200 and $500 per day in revenue. And would cost about $500 to purchase all the equipment one time!

P.S: “Each booking is for five hours or until 10 minutes past sunset.

Getting started

Okay… There is a path to doing this for free… But it demands your moral compass at the time. Not like stealing, calm down. But like returning… So really there’s 3 ways to start this:

  1. buy low cost stuff and rent that out

  2. buy nicer things and rent that out

  3. buy the nice stuff then return it if you get no buyers

Initial Expenses:

  • Beach Supplies: High-quality chairs, towels, umbrella, cooler (~$500).

  • Marketing and website: Ads and simple site (~$100).

Total Initial Investment: Approximately $600.

Building to $4,000 a Month

Getting bookings Fri-Sun should be pretty easy.

If you can average about $350/booking on those days, that would be $1,050 per week or ~$4,000 per month.

Not bad only working 3 days a week and really only doing pickup and drop off of equipment.

Ways to get more exposure (not through ads):

  1. Get set up on Airbnb experiences

  2. Connect with local breweries and wineries to offer their stuff (for people over 21)

  3. Hit up local tour guides and offer a kick back if someone books through them

  4. When you set up, handout cards to other folks in the area

Potential downsides:

This can really only work in popular outdoor spots like beaches and parks. Other than stuff breaking or getting stolen this seems like a pretty easy business to run!

Viability:

1 [building spaceships] 🚀 to 5 [easy peasy] 😊

I might try this business and get back to you guys on this. It looks fun and really easy to set up. If you are doing this business (or something like it) please reach out, would love a real break down of how this works.

(As usual each business will have it’s own setbacks, and it’s all about the execution and consistency rather than just having the idea)

It’s a great day to be great!

Love, Mike 👋
