👻 Things Are Changing Here
and how you can copy this side hustle too
If you’re new here, we turn $1 into thousands building these weird but simple side hustles. Welcome to Ghost Business 👻 Your (mostly) weekly email
TLDR;
only writing ideas I get excited about (no more fluff)
get paid to start fires
I’m going to start every email with an ad… (please click it to help support this newsletter 😍)
Start your year with clarity
Written by Shane Parrish and reMarkable, this workbook helps you reflect without complexity or stress. It guides you through the past year with intention, so insights emerge naturally.
This isn’t about setting more goals. It’s about understanding what matters, clearly and calmly.
A simple reset for January. A thoughtful way to review your year.
🚨 this is that ad to click… remember? You promised! 👆🙏

I started Ghost Business to write about ideas I get excited about instead of trying every idea that comes into my head.
It slowly turned into making sure I always get something out to you every week and included advertisers and deadlines etc.
I wasn’t excited about that and you could tell.
So moving forward you will ONLY get emails for an idea that I love and am excited about. No AI, no fluff.
But this means you’ll sometimes get emails weekly, sometimes monthly. But they will all have the energy behind them. That’s it.
So let’s jump right into this one 👇
It’s called Log Buddy 🔥
This idea was talked about in an episode of Modern Family, where you get paid to help folks start bon fires in their backyards. Simple right?
I personally LOVE building fires and make a huge effort to build and use only one match to get it going. (I call myself One Light Mike during this process, my family tolerates it)

The MVP
This is incredibly easy to start and requires $0 upfront cost. You just need:
Free landing page (I like carrd.co)
Post on your neighborhood FB groups and NextDoor
Make the design seasonal (fire pits in the summer, fireplaces in the winter)
Determine your cost (time, materials, and fire size)
That’s it, wait for some inbound and you’re off to the races!
How this scales
Once one works, this becomes a system. Start getting reviews to your services by offering something cheap for one. Something like an extra log or fire color packs.
Looks like you can charge anywhere between $50-$100, so let’s go with $75.
5 weekly bookings = $375
10 weekly bookings = $750
15 weekly bookings = $1,125
20 weekly bookings = $1,500
We can see how this can easily turn into a $6,000/mo side hustle.
But wait there’s more!
We can up charge for:
Fire logs (+50% of cost)
Smores ingredients (+100$ of cost)
Fire pokers and other materials (+50% of cost)
Fire pit rentals ($25-$50 an hour)
Chair rentals
etc
Viability:
1 [building spaceships] 🚀 to 5 [easy peasy] 😊

This is super easy to start and if you’re somewhat of a pyro, congrats! Good luck and don’t burn yourself.
It’s a great day to be great!
Love, Mike 👋
