Week 1: How I’ll Make $1K From Secondhand Stuff 🤝

If you’re new here, we turn $1 into thousands building these weird but simple side hustles. Welcome to Ghost Business 👻 Your (mostly) weekly email

I’m going to start every email with an ad 👇 … (please click the link — my dogs rent depends on it 🐶 )

Tariffs Surge — This Tech Disruptor Moves Faster Than Global Shifts

Consumer electronics may have dodged the tariff bullet, but one smart home disruptor isn’t waiting for luck.

They’ve strategically secured production outside China, staying ahead of the global manufacturing shift.

That’s exactly how this company has hit 200% year-over-year growth while expanding into over 120 major retail locations.

Their smart shade technology is reshaping home automation, protected by patents and backed by powerful retail partnerships.

Smart investors spot the pattern: companies that turn global challenges into strategic wins often deliver the biggest returns.

At just $1.90 per share, you’re looking at a company that’s not just prepared for supply chain shifts — it’s already capitalizing on them.

Past performance is not indicative of future results. Email may contain forward-looking statements. See US Offering for details. Informational purposes only.

TLDR;

  • Goal is to make $1k profit in April

  • made $125 in 4 days

  • using a seller “alter ego”

Week 1: How I’ll Make $1K From Secondhand Scores

Welcome back, in case you’re new and dropping in, I’m selling (free) used stuff to make $1k in profit (link to first email) by April 29th.

Getting the goods

I asked the neighbors if they had anything to get rid of - they had 3 things: office chair, ice maker (not pictured) and unicorn book shelf (not pictured).

Next, I went on all of the used marketplaces - FB, OfferUp, etc. and searched for “free”, “open box”, “new”, “moving”, within 10 miles of my place. Furniture and electronics are preferred but I was open to a bunch of stuff.

First place was a gold mine! This is the post that started it all:

Furniture ✅

Weird/funny looking ✅

Free ✅✅✅

But there was one problem…

The table didn’t fit in my car. (and I specifically only want to use a car so I don’t have a “truck” advantage) I want anyone to be able to do this!!

So I asked the question EVERYONE needs to ask - “So what else you need to get rid of?

Turns out, a good amount!

I’m talking Smart TV, Huge mirror and a glass table top were all free and could all fit in my car! (pictures below)

Initial Expenses:

Items: Free

Gas to drive there: $1.57

Total Initial Investment: $1.57

Selling the goods

Here’s a secret about me: I hate haggling. I LOVE negotiations, but hate haggling.

So at first I posted the goods online the standard way:

  • This is item name

  • This is item size

  • This is item material

  • This is item price…

Snooze! My sales were also snooze 😴

So I rebranded: EVERYTHING25

  • No haggle

  • No fuss

  • Everything just 25 bucks

I put 3 bullet points about the item and a short (fake) story about it. People LOVE stories. With a punchline at the end about it only being $25.

Everything sold within 12 hours (minus book shelf since it hasn’t been posted yet)

How it’s going

I’m currently up $125 in ~4 days!! (as of writing this)

  • Chair $25 SOLD

  • Ice maker $25 SOLD

  • Glass table top $25 SOLD

  • Huge mirror $25 SOLD

  • TV $25 SOLD

Will continue to use the EVERYTHING25 strategy and find more moving sales where I can get multiple items in one trip. Will also hit up a few more neighbors! 😎

(As usual each business will have it’s own setbacks, and it’s all about the execution and consistency rather than just having the idea)

It’s a great day to be great!

Love, Mike 👋
