Final Results: How I’ll Make $1K From Secondhand Stuff 🤝
If you’re new here, we turn $1 into thousands building these weird but simple side hustles. Welcome to Ghost Business 👻 Your (mostly) weekly email

TLDR;
30 days to get to $1k (made $650)
source bulk free stuff from movers
what the pros are doing

Final Week: How I’ll Make $1K From Secondhand Scores
Welcome back, in case you’re new and dropping in, I’m selling (free) used stuff to make $1k in profit (link to first email and link to 1st week) by April 29th.
I skipped last few weeks emails because, honestly, there wasn’t much to report. If I don’t have anything meaningful to share, I won’t. Our inboxes have too much anyways.

The Results
I continued to get most of the items from people moving or estate sales. At times I would do one off stops if I knew I could sell the product quickly 100%. Stuff like nicer small furniture - bed side tables, nice rocking chairs, coffee tables, etc. Small working electronics are always an easy sell as well.
I spent at max 45 min a week picking up stuff and listing it. Most of the time is spent just going back and forth in chats and coordinating with people.
(This video by Kevin Saxby is a hilarious and accurate example of what you’ll go through on an hourly basis doing this hustle 😂 )
During the month, I was able to pickup 20 items and listed 6 items from my own things for 26 items sold in total at $25 ea.
But I can’t stress this enough… I spent less than 1hr A WEEK doing this.
Even though the goal was $1k, I was probably averaging about $100/hr 🚀

What the pros are doing
I was also on the buying side of this experiment and needed a bookshelf for the house. I found this son and dad on FB Marketplace selling a beautiful teak danish bookshelf.
After checking out their profile, they had TONS of beautiful wooden furniture at a storage unit. So I had to ask them a bunch of questions, here’s the TLDR:
They started doing this part time (like us!) 3 years ago
Went in full time after a year
Buy most of their stuff from auctions
Clean, take pictures, take measurements and post online
Then throw it all in a storage unit
When they make a sale, they pick up from storage (and deliver for extra $$)
Making about $6k/mo in profit

In conclusion
I stand behind my original comments on Reddit saying this is BY FAR the easiest way to make a quick $$ in a day or two with no money or skills needed.
You will need a car, phone and cell service / internet connection, but that’s it!
So if you are in a pinch or just want to try and get your feet wet in some sweet side hustlin’, give reselling a try and let me know how it goes!
Next week we’ll be back to our regular emails with some fresh ideas for you make money on this summer!
(As usual each business will have it’s own setbacks, and it’s all about the execution and consistency rather than just having the idea)
It’s a great day to be great!
Love, Mike 👋
