Week 2: How I’ll Make $1K From Secondhand Stuff 🤝
If you’re new here, we turn $1 into thousands building these weird but simple side hustles. Welcome to Ghost Business 👻 Your (mostly) weekly email

I’m going to start every email with an ad 👇 … (please click the link — my dogs rent depends on it 🐶 )
Is this startup the next billion dollar buyout?
Imagine investing in Ring before its $1.2B buyout by Amazon
Or Nest, before Google's $3.2B acquisition.
By the time we hear about industry-changing companies, it’s usually too late. But right now, there’s a smart home startup making their way to homes in America. This tech startup is RYSE, and unlike Ring, you can still invest before their $1.90 round closes May 30.
Like how Ring disrupted home security, this company is revolutionizing smart blinds & shades.
With $10M+ in revenue, 200% YoY growth, and sold in 127 Best Buy stores, they are primed for massive expansion and forecast 5X in revenue this year.

👆 this is that ad to click, remember??
TLDR;
currently at $175
don’t reduce pricing
made a dumb mistake

Week 2: How I’ll Make $1K From Secondhand Scores
Welcome back, in case you’re new and dropping in, I’m selling (free) used stuff to make $1k in profit (link to first email and link to 1st week) by April 29th.

What’s working
Finding items from people moving or big garage sales is the sweet spot. One trip, many items saves time and (gas) money.
The “alter-ego” has been working. EVERYTHING25 is super direct and people get it. Haven’t had anyone try to negotiate either 🤷
If something doesn’t sell, don’t edit the description, don’t reduce the pricing, DO repost it. That is it.

Whats not working
Quick story: I found a SWEET rocking chair for free. I honestly loved it so much I hoped it wouldn’t sell. Then it didn’t.
I became obsessed with selling this thing like my weekly emails depended on it. I stopped picking up items and kept reposting this thing.
and it FINALLY sold. Just so I can share this.
Moral of the story here… Don’t get obsessed with the item. Most people won’t but if you’re like me, maybe just chill a little bit and repost a couple times a week max 😂
Also don’t become obsessed with only finding moving sales (like me). I stopped going to find items that looked great and instead hyper focused on only moving sales, but the truth is this:
Any seller can have multiple items they are trying to get rid of but haven’t gotten around posting yet. So still go to the close cool items but just remember to ask if they have more stuff.
Might sound obvious, so don’t be a dummy like me.

How it’s going
I was able to sell 2 more items this week: Rocking chair 🪑 and a 3D printed planter thing.
I’m currently up $175, very shy of my $1,000.
So time to learn from my mistakes and STEP THIS THING UP!
(As usual each business will have it’s own setbacks, and it’s all about the execution and consistency rather than just having the idea)
It’s a great day to be great!
Love, Mike 👋
